Custom Side-hack built to a chopped Italian-made Harley Rapido
The AMF | Harley-Davidson Aeramacchi Rapido is a 125cc 2-stroke monster with a bore of 2.21" and almost equal stroke of 1.97" with 7.65:1 compression ratio. Multi-plate wet clutch gripping a 4-speed gearbox which spin either a trail or street sprocket. The tires are 3x19 up front and a knobby 3.5x18 in the rear. With a 48” wheelbase this 211.5 pound fun-machine has a ground clearance of 6.3 inches.
The bike was purchased by Tony Colombini from Eric Croy in 2006. In 2008, the rig was dismantled and stored for two years. The build-up began in July 2010 and finished March 2011. The main builders Tony Colombini and Mark Potter were helped with many friends.Tony designed the project and procured the parts needed. Potter painted and cleaned the engine and tank, provided the seat, and re-routed the wiring and a whole bunch more. Billy helped with the tear-down and some fab work. Eric taught Tony how to weld the brackets. Tim re-assembled the front end, and added rubber to the rims. Carl provided the '04 Harley Sportster shocks and a bunch of other parts and build advice. Keith from Sunnymead Cycles, supplied the frame, rear fender and wheel all for the hack as well as many small-parts including helping to find the ignition switch.
